Hagan Statement on Passing of Lura Tally

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Greensboro, NC -- U.S. Senator Kay Hagan released the following statement after the passing of Lura Tally:

“Lura Tally was a caring and tireless advocate for women, our students and our entire state. She was also a trailblazer who retired as the longest-serving female lawmaker in North Carolina history, helping to pave the way for those of us who came after her. As a former state senator and one of only 17 women in the U.S. Senate, I am thankful for her service and her steadfast efforts to further the role of women in politics. Ms. Tally will continue to serve as an inspiration to us all. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and many friends.”
