Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Kay Hagan today released the following statement on the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:

"Today we reflect on the tragic events that claimed the lives of thousands of innocent Americans, including many from North Carolina. The terrorist attacks shook our nation, but strengthened our resolve. We must never forget the victims of that horrific day, nor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice fighting terrorists around the globe. We also remember the first responders who always answer the call to serve others, even as they knowingly risk their own lives. On this day of mourning, my thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who grieve the loss of loved ones as a result of the September 11 attacks."
